This site shows photos of the celebration of First Holy Communion in our parish.
The ceremony started at 8a.m. before the heat of the sun got too strong.
It was a beautiful day for all involved.
First Holy Communion in any parish is a big day. It was the same for these 119 young people here in the parish of Jesucristo Pan de Vida. They prepared for First Holy Communion over the period of a year by attending a class each Saturday morning which lasted for two hours. They were supported by their parents and were also expected to attend mass each weekend where they would learn more about their faith and the mystery of what they were preparing to receive. They were prepared by a team of catechists, which included five lay people, the religious sisters working in the parish and ourselves.
First Holy Communion was celebrated on the first Saturday in December. It was celebrated outside in front of the new grotto which was just completed two days earlier. This was my first experience of First Holy Communion in the parish and it was a wonderful day for the people of the parish.
